I am a reporter, & also own a small ranch. This blog was started to give me the opportunity to express things I couldn't in print, especially on spiritual matters. In this way, I neither compromise my journalistic objectivity, nor step on any professional toes.

20060814 :::
Summer’s starting to come to an end; Achilles & Artemis will be going back to school in a fortnight. This has been an odd season. Just returned from holiday to find yet another person telling me that they were separating from their spouse…the third such occurrence in the last couple of months. And I was vacationing for one of those months. What with my pneumonia, my mom’s health problems, my brother (literally) working in a war zone, it’s been a most different Summer this year.
Getting back to the latest marital separation: I find that about the only time people come to me for advice is when they’re splitting from their spouses. Why come to me? Maybe because I’m divorced. Probably that’s the reason. I do want to help people, but secretly I hate being the go-to guy for information on divorce.
Would anyone like a slightly used teenage boy? Achilles seems to be trying deliberately, every day, every way, to try to piss me off royally. Although it partly pains me to say it, I’m actually looking a bit forward to his returning to school. If this is a phase, hope he outgrows it soon, as this act truly is wearing thin.
Talked with Achilles’ girlfriend Melody last night. She phoned the ranch for him, of course, but he was out roaming around with the dogs, so I chatted with her. She told me that an acquaintance of mine, a grown man who actually likes to be called Warlock, was dating her mom. This came as a surprise to me, as I understood Warlock to be married, as he’s introduced me to his wife on a couple of occasions. I haven’t seen him since the Spring, so it is entirely possible that his marriage has collapsed since then, but the whole thing seems a little suspicious. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t give a flip as adults have the rights to make perfect fools of themselves, but Melody’s had such a hard life all ready (in part, because of her mom’s bum choices) that I would hate to see any fallout harm her.
Oh, well. Ciao.
